The staff and students of Mabelle B. Avery Middle School offer their heartfelt congratulations on a job well done to its Junior Beta members. To qualify as a member of the national organization students must consistently exhibit exemplary effort and achievement, while demonstrating ideals of service and leadership. This year, inductees maintained honors in all four quarters of seventh grade, as well as honors in the first, second and third quarter of their eighth grade year.
Additionally, students were expected to participate in two community service projects. The group developed service projects in an effort to better the school community, the town of Somers, and our country. Projects included a candy collection for Operation Gratitude collecting over 75 pounds of candy for service members. In addition, students fundraised for Pawsafe in Ellington and raised $278. A ceremony will was held on May 27th in honor of the exemplary efforts of these students.
As Beta sponsor, I feel privileged and proud to work with such amazing young people. Congratulations to our members-
